Adjustments needed

I got my shipment from Lacis yesterday, containing the cone of size 20 Lizbeth thread. Looks like this will be plenty for several large projects:

However, I can't get started on the table runner just yet. As suspected, the midline of the runner is difficult to get right. My tatted sample (pictured above) curves inward in the middle instead of forming straight lines down each side. I have a few adjustments in mind, but will have to tat a subsection to see if it works. I hope to have that figured out by next week.

  1. Wow I've seen pictures of thread like that but never next to any thing to really understand the size wow 🐘 love it!

  2. Yeah, it's pretty massive! Wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered it, but was pleasantly surprised by the amount of thread on the cone. It will last me a really long time haha!

  3. You are truly dedicated to perfecting this table runner! I still have quite a bit of thread left on the cone I bought for my Jan Stawasz doily that I finished a couple of years ago. I'm amazed at how much is on one cone!

  4. Oh how frustrating considering how beautiful it is!! I know you will get it figured out and it will be awesome!!! :) But I do like it even with the slight inward tip. ;)

  5. It is really inspiring how you perfect the pattern. I could hardly see the warp in the prototype, but indeed, on the larger scale it would probably be more noticeable.

  8. This is one pattern where I wouldn't mind joining the beautiful bookmarks , instead of a magic pathway. But it also confirms my contention that a pattern decides the magic path !
Is that white thread as soft as any of the dyed threads in same brand & size ? Anchor white is slightly stiffer & thicker than the dyed ones, hence combining coloured with whites is a no-no.

  9. Good point muskaan. I will include an option for joining separate bookmarks when I write up the pattern. As for the thread, it is the same as the small balls of Lizbeth white. I've found that white thread (and even white yarn) tends to be thicker than any other color, but not enough that it will mess up the tatting. I guess there's enough leeway to accommodate for slight size discrepancies. On a similar note, I've noticed Carollyn combining totally different sized threads and somehow making it work, but that's a little outside of my comfort zone :)

  10. Thanks for your response :-) Carollyn does have superior tatting skills :-)))
Tatting for oneself is fine - one can make the slight changes to accommodate different thread sizes. But if one is to share a pattern, I just think it is better to use the same thread unless absolutely necessary for texture or something. As it is individual tension, etc. are enough cause for difference ;-P

  11. I agree, muskaan. I like to use one solid color when calculating stitch counts for a design. After I've figured everything out, I might make another version just for me, with a few colors added.
